5-2 Salvation – Assurance

How Can I Know I’m Saved?

Admit That You Have Sinned Against God.

  • God’s Righteous Standard – “All have Sinned” (Romans 3:23). Even King David admitted in Psalm 51:5 “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.”

Understand The Consequences of Your Sin.

  • The Bible tells us that sin has separated us from God (Isaiah 59:2).  Scripture also teaches that sin produces spiritual death within us (Romans 6:23) and places us under a curse (Galatians 3:10) Because of Sin we deserve God’s Judgment.

Realize That Jesus Christ is our Only Solution to Sin.

  • Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)  Since He alone paid the penalty our sin occurred, He alone is able to Save us.

Receive Christ as Your Savior.

  • This is done by repenting of our sins (Acts 3:19), believing in Christ (Acts 16:31), then openly confessing Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9-10).  The Bible promises: “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).

You may call on the Lord right now.  You may pray a prayer something like this:

‘Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I’m a sinner.  I know I can’t save myself.  I now receive You into my life as Savior and Lord.  I’m truly sorry for my sin, and I now accept Your love and full forgiveness.  I look forward to living with You forever in Heaven.  Please bless my family.  May they come to know You, too.  Amen.
