Honor Part 2

Where Did Dishonor Come From? Genesis 3:1-6, NKJV

  • Satan is the author of dishonor and disorder.
    • He did not start out as the devil, he started out as a beautiful angel with a beautiful voice.
    • Satan was created to Honor God with his beautiful voice—instead he decided he wanted to be honored instead of honoring God and rebelled against God—He and 1/3 of all the angels were thrown out of heaven.
    • Satan now wants to get us to dishonor God and often uses music to do it.
    • Satan always tries to get us to doubt God’s goodness—He tries to get us to think we know more than God—our way is better than He’s way.
  • Insight #1: When we begin doubting God’s goodness and treating Him as common or ordinary—we begin to listen to the wrong people and do the wrong things.
    • The truth is God had given Adam and Eve everything else in the garden.
    • The truth is God’s given us 90% of our income to live off of.
    • When we begin doubting God we will do as Eve did begin to listen to the wrong people and dishonor all God has given us.
  • Insight #2: When Eve chose to dishonor God—she was also dishonoring her husband.
  • Insight #3: When one person is dishonoring God—it’s much easier for the other person to dishonor God.
    • In marriage we are to honor each other, if we are asked to do something that would dishonor God we are to honor God.
    • Adam and Eve both dishonored God by not being thankful for all God had done and given them—that’s where dishonor often starts.

What does it mean to honor God and honor our God-Given Authorities?

  • Honor—delegation of Kingdom authority; delegation of dominion—the King’s dominion.
  • We have a God-ordained order of honor, which goes back to God, if we honor those in God’s ordained order He will honor us.
    • As parents our family order is our God-given delegated authority. Genesis 1:26-28, NKJV
    • Adam and Eve began to treat God as common or ordinary—that’s where dishonor first came from and that’s why each of us inherited that sin nature of dishonor.
    • When we begin to treat God as common or ordinary instead of the extraordinaire God He is, we will begin to listen to the wrong people and do the wrong things.
  • God’s Ordained Authority how family works. Exodus 20:12, NKJV
    • Submit as to the Lord. Ephesians 5:22, NKJV
      • When wives don’t honor their husband they will be tempted to listen other wrong people and do the wrong thing.
      • When husbands don’t honor God they will not honor their wife.
      • God put honor in place to protect us and bless us—Satan tries to get us to bring dishonor where he can bring disorder and destruction.
    • Children must learn to honor your first authority as God.
      • As parents we are to teach our children honor—honor God first, then, us as parents, and those in authority over them—teachers, leaders, pastors, etc.
      • Honor your parents that you may have a long life. Ephesians 6:1-3, NKJV; Exodus 20:12, NKJV
      • Children in doing so you are representing God and those in authority over you!

Jesus Teaches us How to Bring Honor Back. Luke 4:2-4, NKJV

  • Jesus answered letting the devil know and you and I know that Jesus only operates under the delegated written Word of God.
  • The Spirit never goes against the written Word of God.
  • God will never have you go against the written Word of God. Luke 4:5-8, NKJV
  • Jesus is teaching us how to bring honor back—rebuke the devil with the Word of God.
  • Jesus was teaching us Satan will use power, influence, finances, etc. to try and get us to dishonor God.
  • When we are living a life of dishonor God will not give us honor. (The power to do mighty things in our life.)
