God’s Presence with the Hurting
Abraham and Sarah’s messy side. (Genesis 16:1-2, NKJV)
When we try to take control, it will always get out of control. It’s never God’s plan or God’s will to go against God’s Word. The devil makes short-term gratification look like it’s worth the pleasure instead of the price and penalty you have to pay.
The Pleasure is never worth the pain. (Genesis 16:2-5, NCV)
Sarai’s suggestion has now caused family problems, marriage problems, and slave problems. The slave is now being mistreated who also had to obey her master. When we disobey God, we hurt those close to us.
God is present when we are hurting. (Genesis 16:7-12, NCV)
God’s presence was with Hagar; He encouraged her, directed her, and gave her a promise.
God was still with Abraham and Sarah even though it caused a mess. (Hebrews 13:5-6, NKJV)
God’s presence is promised. (Genesis 21:8-20, ESV)
God’s presence was with Abraham during His sorrow. God encouraged Abraham that Isaac was the promised son and also promised there will be descendants to follow. God hears our cry and wants us to know that His presence is near to us. The step to entering into God’s presence is through Jesus Christ. (John 14:6, NKJV)
