Exploring the Heart Behind God’s Commandments

The heart of the Commandments: (Exodus 20:3-17, NKJV; Matthew 5:27-28, NKJV; Matthew 5:43-44, NKJV)

They show the way to live, the way to love your neighbor, and the way to love God with all your heart and soul. Commandments #1-#4 teach about our relationship with God. Commandments #5-#10 teach about our relationship with others. (Matthew 22:36-40, NKJV)

As new creations in Christ, the law is not only our duty but also our delight.

Let the Commandments be a reminder that Jesus died for us. (Romans 8:1, NKJV)

Jesus kept all the commandments but died like He did not. Jesus died for our sins so we could live like we have never sinned. This should cause us to want to please the One who loves us. Stop fighting and focus on loving loud. (John 13:34-35, NKJV)

The forgotten Commandment.

Allow God to love you to where you can overcome fear and torment. If you don’t allow Him to fully love you, you can’t fully love others. God’s love is not about what you deserve, it’s about what He desires.

Let the Commandments be a reminder to turn to the Commander who loves us. (1 John 5:3-5, NKJV)

The commandments are not to burden you, they are to remind you to turn to Jesus. The commandments help us stay connected to the Commander. (John 15:5, NKJV; John 15:7, NKJV) When we are connected, we bear much fruit and our desire are met.
