Beyond Vows | Falling in Love and Staying in Love

Biblical Love. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8, NCV)

Go over the 15 qualities of love.

The difference between love and infatuation.

Infatuation: the state of being completely carried away by unreasoning passion, an addictive love. Love: can be described as feeling of intense affection for the other person, interpersonal love.

Infatuation is often lost in emotions; Love is a decision and commitment to work through conflict instead of giving up. Infatuation is often selfish and uncontrollable; Love is physical chemistry over a long period of time.

Infatuation can be short-lived and self-centered; Love wants intimacy, commitment, security, and desire to please the other person.

Infatuation has a sense of urgency, intensity, sexual desire, and high-risk choices; Love is faithful, loyal, confident, and a willingness to make sacrifices for the other person.

Infatuation takes off fast but the feeling begins to fail; Love can have a time of infatuation but then deepen into care.

Love is a choice. (Deuteronomy 30:19-20, NKJV)

Blessings and curses in your life and marriage come as a result of the choices you make. You don’t fall in and out of love. (1 Corinthians 13:8, NCV, MSG; 1 Corinthians 13:4, MSG)

4 Ways to reconnect.

Go to church together. (Hebrews 10:25, NKJV; Psalm 127:1, NKJV)

Make sure you are both saved. (2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV, AMP; John 13:34-35, NKJV)

Be around the right influences. (1 Corinthians 15:33, CEV)

Practice the right actions over and over. (1 Corinthians 13:4-5, NCV)

Self-centered desires are the main source of conflicts, arguments, and fractured relationships. These desires can be concealed and often spark disputes. Regular self-reflection is essential to recognize and address these selfish inclinations. It’s important to refrain from slander and gossip, as they have the power to either uplift or harm others. Pray for Rain

Pray for Rain

James highlights the power of prayer through the example of Elijah. Elijah was a human just like us, yet when he prayed earnestly for no rain, there was no rain for three and a half years. When he prayed again, the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. Fervent, righteous prayer can have powerful results, demonstrating God’s ability to intervene through prayer.
