Joanna: Brave, Beautiful, and Bold
Brave – Joanna got her strength from Jesus, not her status. (Luke 8:1-3, NIV; Luke 24:9-10, NIV; Luke 24:11-12, NIV)
Joanna lived in an environment hostile to Jesus, yet she was publicly identified as a disciple. (Luke 23:11, NIV) She followed Jesus openly. She gave generously. She risked her comfort and reputation. She was brave because her boldness came from Christ, not her connection to power. If you want to be brave stand for your Savior, not your status!
Beautiful – Joanna’s worth was in Christ, not appearance or wealth.
Lasting beauty comes from the inside. God wasn’t highlighting her face – He was highlighting her faith. Unfading beauty doesn’t come from makeup – it comes from a mature spirit. (Peter 3:3-4, NIV) Worldly beauty fades – but a God-fearing woman only grows more beautiful over time. (Proverbs 31:30, NIV)
A woman who fears the Lord:
- Prays before she panics.
- Worships instead of worries.
- Leads with love.
- Stands with strength.
- Is beautiful because what she believes and who she stands for.
True beauty starts when you understand you are already God’s masterpiece. (Psalm 139:14, NIV)
Joanna’s beauty came from:
- Her devotion.
- Her humility.
- Her identity in Christ.
Bold in confidence – her faith was in Jesus, not earthly power.
Joanna’s confidence wasn’t in palaces – it was in the promises of God. She walked to the tomb with the other women. (Luke 24:10, NIV) She saw the stone rolled away. She was one of the first to carry the message of resurrection. (Proverbs 28:1, NIV)
