Find God’s Favor in Fake Relationships

Infatuation

When you are wrapped up in a shallow understanding of the other person; infatuation can bring people together, but it rarely keeps people together. This “puppy stage” only lasts months, maybe a year. You will eventually need to ask the question, “is this someone I want to continue to build a long-term relationship or not?”

Don’t base your decision on the tingling feeling you were having because that will come and go with the next person as well.

Definition of love.

Romantic love is made up of three components: attraction, care, and intimacy. Intimacy is a trust that’s been built and proven over time. (Genesis 2:22-25, NKJV)

Part of true intimacy includes trust, openness, and honesty. There needs to be personal intimacy before physical intimacy. Marriage operating correctly is an outward example of the spiritual relationship Christ wants to have with you. (Ephesians 5:31-33, NKJV)

Sexual intimacy is not to be dishonored. (Hebrews 13:4, MSG, AMP) Love can’t stay upset with the other person. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8, NCV) Love does not live in the past by continuing to bring up the past. (1 Corinthians 13:6-8, NCV)

Lust versus love.

Love sacrifices with love; Lust focuses on being satisfied. Love gives while lust wants to get. Lust gets satisfaction out of being sacrificed for. Lust is all about them, love is all about the other person. Lust is mostly sexually driven; Love is emotionally, mentally, physically, and sometimes sexually driven.
