Isaac’s Recovery: Lessons from Trauma and Faith
The choice between resentment and faith.
We can choose to live in hatred and resentment, or we can forgive and let God deepen our faith and dependence on Him. (1 Corinthians 2:5, KJV; Romans 8:28, KJV;2 Corinthians 1:3-4, KJV, NCV, AMP) God did not cause terrible trauma, hurts, and pain. God gives us free choices.
God’s brings healing and comfort.
- Through His Word. (Psalm 107:20, NKJV)
- Through His people. (2 Corinthians 1:4, NKJV)
- Through therapy. (Proverbs 24:6, ESV; Romans 12:2-3, AMP, CEV)
Isaac’s response to trauma
His half-brother was banished and deserted. He was bound by his father who attempted to slay him. (Genesis22:9-11, NIV; Genesis 22:12-14, NIV) Isaac went through a lot of trauma, but he also lived a blessed life as he grew. Isaac was blessed because of what his father did. (Genesis 26:1-6, NIV; Genesis26:23-25, NIV)
Overcoming mistakes.
Abraham was not a perfect father, and neither are you. Abraham became a better father the older he got, and so can you. Isaac overcame many of the mistakes his parents made and God still blessed him and used him. Healing from trauma takes time.
