Parenting for Such a Time as This

The Warnings. (Esther 4:14, NKJV; 2 Timothy 3:1-3, NKJV; 2 Timothy 3:1-5, NKJV)

Times will be difficult, so don’t be surprised but be advised. All will struggle with being selfish and self-centered. (Philippians 4:4-5, TLB; James 3:16, NKJV; James 4:1-2, NKJV)

The cure for selfishness is generously serve. (Matthew 20:28, NKJV; Matthew 5:5, NCV; Acts 20:35, NKJV) Parents must model unselfishness starting in the home, at work, and in hobbies. Parents must start teaching their children to be unselfish

There will be disobedience to parents. (Ephesians 6:1-3, NKJV)

The devil’s purpose for children is to be disobedient to their parents. Obeying parents needs to be taught at a very early age. (Proverbs 22:6, NKJV; Proverbs 23:13-16, CEV)

The right relationships = the right influence.

When it matters most, the quality of your relationship with your children will determine the weight of your influence. In the early years, a parent’s influence is based on size and position. Your children need your influence the most when they make the decisions that matter the most. Right relationships can only be developed through the right times and the right ways as they become teens, don’t wait until they become teens.

Now is the time for you to be the parent God called you to be, even if you are divorced.

Both agree on how you will teach and discipline. Teach and build relationships with your children that are based on the Bible’s teachings, not the world’s. (James 4:13-14, NKJV; James 1:22, NKJV; Ephesians 5:16-17, ESV)
