Secrets to Successful Parenting

What’s the wise thing to do? (Ephesians 5:17, NKJV)

When our relationships are right with God and our relationships are right with family, that’s the wise thing to do. Children must learn to have their own relationship with God, they cannot depend on ours.

Every other relationship with be affected by our relationship with God. (Matthew 6:33, NKJV; John 15:5, NKJV; John 15:7-8, NKJV)

Understand the decision-making process.

The secret to successful parenting is influence; the secret to influence is relationships. (Proverbs 13:20, NCV)

Parent         God           Others = Decisions

Knowing where your child is at spiritually is just as, if not more important than knowing where they are physically. (Ephesians 6:1- 4, NKJV)

Begin to focus on your child’s spiritual condition.

It’s important to grow spiritually. (Galatians 5:21-23, NKJV, CEV)

Know where you are spiritually. Make a commitment to start growing spiritually.

Relationship is more important than reputation or riches.

(Ephesians 6:4, NKJV, TEV)

Don’t worry more about your reputation than your relationship with your child. Don’t substitute riches for relationships.

5 things to remember:

    1. There was no perfect parent and there never will be.
    2. You are the right person in the right place. (Ephesians 2:10, AMP)
    3. You are doing better than you think you are.
    4. You matter more than you think you do.
    5. It’s less about you than you think it is.
