The Blessing of Passing the Test

Blessing in perseverance. (James 1:12-18, NIV)

Crown of life is a special quality of life for those who persevere or pass the test and rewards in heaven. God wants us as Christians to have a special quality of life that those who don’t have Christ as Savior cannot have. That life is not free of tests, trials, and temptations but one that we learn to patiently, persistently persevere until the provisions of God come. (Romans 12:12, NIV)

Understanding temptation. (James 1:13-15, NIV)

    1. God is not the source of temptation.
    2. Temptation progresses in stages:
      1. Desire: a natural longing, which may not be sinful.
      2. Conception: when a desire is entertained and indulged.

Death: sin, when fully grown, leads to spiritual death and separation from God.

Temptation is a desire that becomes sin when we give in to it. Desire itself is not sinful, but improper responses to it can lead to sin. Recognizing the progression can help believers resist temptations and have more victories.

God’s unchanging goodness. (James 1:16-17, NIV)

    1. God is the source of good.
    2. Avoid deception. (John 10:10, NIV)

Spiritual birth and purpose. (James 1:18, NIV)

Believers are chosen by God. Believers are first fruits of creation.

Pray for Rain

Pray for Rain

James highlights the power of prayer through the example of Elijah. Elijah was a human just like us, yet when he prayed earnestly for no rain, there was no rain for three and a half years. When he prayed again, the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. Fervent, righteous prayer can have powerful results, demonstrating God’s ability to intervene through prayer.

The Hidden Enemy: Selfish Desires and Their Consequences

Self-centered desires are the main source of conflicts, arguments, and fractured relationships. These desires can be concealed and often spark disputes. Regular self-reflection is essential to recognize and address these selfish inclinations. It’s important to refrain from slander and gossip, as they have the power to either uplift or harm others. Additionally, recognizing and submitting to God’s authority over your plans is vital.
