You are Born for Greatness – Part 2
Jesus tells you that you are born for greatness.
John 10:10, NKJV; John 14:12-14, NKJV
Jesus tells us not only to be greater but also to do greater. You don’t ask in Jesus’ name so you can be great, you ask in Jesus name to do great things that would bring honor and glory to God the Father through His Son.
What being born for greatness does not mean:
Matthew 25:21, NKJV; John 2:18, NCV; John 4:48, NKJV
It does not mean you will be greater or do greater miracles. One of Satan’s greatest lies is to make us believe that if we become great, then we will be happy. Satan deceives us into trying to use our God-given gifts to make ourselves great instead of doing great works.
We long to hear the words in Matthew 25:21, NKJV, “His lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” Instead of enjoying the words we long to hear, we hear “I am exhausted, unfulfilled and unhappy no matter what I achieve or don’t achieve.”
Begin to do greater things.
Matthew 23:11-12, NKJV
As we do greater things, we do them humbly. Philippians 2:3, NCV
Greatness is achieved through the correct understanding of servanthood. Matthew 20:26-27, NKJV
Jesus did not say there was something wrong with greatness, just how you achieve it. 2 Chronicles 16:9, NKJV
4 steps to greatness:
- Humble yourself to God the Father and worship Him only.
- Have the right attitude toward others. Matthew 5:43-48, NKJV; Romans 12:17-19, NKJV
- Our actions of serving those who no one else will. Matthew 8:2-3, NLT; Matthew 8:5-7, NLT; Matthew 8:14-15, NLT; Matthew:23-26, NLT; Matthew 9:1-8; NLT; John 8:3-11, NKJV
- Serve God with your money. Matthew 6:24, NLT; Matthew 6:21, NKJV
