How to Receive Spiritual Gifts
Spiritual Gifts: (1 Corinthians 12:1, NKJV)
Spiritual gifts are an expression of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10, NKJV) A spiritual gift is a skill or ability that allows each Christian to perform a function in the Body of Christ with ease and effectiveness. (Exodus 9:16, NKJV)
Spiritual gifts are drives or opportunities that result in achieving God’s goals. When you are saved and in the right relationship with God, you will have a burning desire to use your gift for God. (Romans 12:4-5, NKJV; Psalms 139:14, NKJV)
Who gives the gifts and when do you get them?
The gifts are given by the Holy Spirit when you are saved. When you are born physically you possess certain natural gifts, when you are born again you get spiritual abilities. God will often take your natural gifts and use them as spiritual gifts. (John 3:3, NKJV, Ephesians 4:8, NKJV)
2 great dangers in the Christian life:
Not knowing your spiritual gift.
Knowing your spiritual gift and not using it.
Discover your spiritual gift.
You have to be born again. (John 3:1-7, NKJV) You have to be willing to use your gift. Become committed to learning. (Romans 10:17, NKJV) Focus on the needs of others. (Ephesians 4:11-12, NKJV)
4 things have to happen before you can find and use your gift.
- You have to know God.
- You have to have consistent fellowship with God. (John 10:10, NKJV)
- Be completely honest with God.
- Thank God in the good times and in the bad times.
