Fight Like A Man
God created man to live out the greatness he was created for and fight the man he was equipped for.
Change will only come with training not just simply trying. The greatness training for a man is to train to be Kingdom Man. We train best when we have a Coach. The best Coach in the world is Jesus Christ and He can and will always be with you. (John 4:4, NKJV). God will always do His part if you do your part; Our part is learning/training/applying, His part is to bring bring the victory.
We must know what we were created for. (Genesis 1:27-28, NKJV)
Men and women were both created by God, for God, in the image of God Spiritually, but not the same physically and many time emotionally. ( I Peter 3:7, NKJV). We were created to subdue and have dominion; be a Winning Warrior. (Fighter) (Exodus 15:13, NLT, MSG) To fight like a man is to learn to fight the way God would have us fight. God never lost a fight and never will; He wants to be us and fight with us and for us. (Psalm 127: 1-5, NIV). We need to learn to fight for our family God’s way because there is no other way. There’s an enemy at the gate trying to destroy you, your family, and your job; We can have victory over the enemy. (1 John 4:4 NKJV)
Jesus is the Greatest Warrior Who ever lived. (John 14:12-14, NKJV)
Jesus wants us to believe we were created for greatness! Jesus is our example! Jesus knew how to fight and when to fight but He did fight. (Matthew 21:12-14, NKJV) A man without a cause from God is often just an angry man who doesn’t know where to direct his anger, energy, and aggression. A warrior with a cause from God directs that war like energy for a cause greater than himself. True strength only comes through admitting and knowing you are weak. (1 Corinthians 1:25-29, NKJV)
How do we fight
You are only as strong as you are honest. (Jon 10:14-15, NKJV) Most of the time the greatest battle starts with you surrendering your life to Jesus’ pan for your life. Scripture is the Weapon. (2 Corinthians 10:6, TLB) The real enemy is the devil; He will always tempt us where we are weak. (Matthew 4:1-4, NKJV) Scripture is God’s Word and that’s how we throw a winning punch; Satan cannot resist the Word. (James 4:7, NKJV) Church is the place to learn and train. (Hebrews 10:25, NCV) We need to learn to fight as a team and like winning warriors. (Romans 12:4-8, NKJV; Romans 12:6-9, AMP)

James Greer: 00:00 Yeah, yeah, man, tell me about it. Yeah, we’re going to fight, Amen?. I’ll tell you. I didn’t know I suppose to come out right after he sang that song, though. Ooh, wee. That was tough, huh? Amen? Yeah, where is he? Where you at? Trey? Trey, Trey, Trey, come back here. All right, don’t come back here. I’ll get you later then. Ooh, fight like a man. Amen? Oh, I’ll tell you, man you’re going to learn to fight like a man. You are going to learn several things. You are going to learn that, you were born to fight, you were born to be a warrior, you’re going to learn why you should fight and you are going to learn what to fight for. Then you’ll learn how to fight. Amen? Man, I love one of the key verses Exodus 15:13 it says, the Lord is a warrior and the Lord is his name. Another one translates saying God is a fighter Man, I want to tell you there’s at least three families in our church, in the last year that were headed for divorce. It looked like impossible for them to make it, and they decided to fight, decided to fight for their families. And the good news is this, all three of them said they’re still fighting, but all three of them said, now after the fight, our marriages are the best they’ve ever been. Yeah, that’s great because you hear so many stories today when that’s not true. So we need to learn to fight. We need to learn to fight the right things, and fighting for your family is worth the fight. And so that’s a great turnaround. And so we praise God for those.
James Greer: 02:03 You know, as men, we were created for greatness. We were created for greatness, but that greatness is to be used to further God’s kingdom. I want men to know that we’re born for greatness, that they were or born to be warriors, they were born to fight. They were born to fight like men. You see what happens when men don’t understand what they’re to fight for. When they don’t have a cause, they still fight, but they usually fight for the wrong thing. They fight against authorities. They fight against their wives. They fight against their boss and they become very destructive. So what we are going to learn is, what we’re created for and what we’re equipped for and how to fight.
James Greer: 02:46 The first thing you have to do is you’ve got to know you is not by trying harder, but its training. I mean, I loved it when he came out here. He really was a professional fighter and they called him little rocky, and man he would knock them out in a second. He’d do this and POW, he would knock them out, but he trained and he trained and he trained and he trained. He didn’t work up every day and say, I’m going to try be a better boxer. I’m going to try to be a better fighter. It’s not trying it’s training and it doesn’t matter if it’s a finance, doesn’t matter if it’s your marriage, it doesn’t matter if it’s sport. Whatever you to do. If you want to get better at it, you have to determine that you’re going to start training at that particular thing and there’s nothing better to train for than to be a kingdom man or kingdom woman, a child of the king, and to do that, you’ve got to have a coach.
James Greer: 03:15 Well a coach, of course we need each other, but the greatest coach of all is Jesus Christ. He’s already determined he’s going to be with us. In 1 John 4:4 it says, you are of God little children and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. He said, listen, I’m not only going to coach, I’m going to be everywhere you go. He is in you and He’s with you and He is for you. God said He wants us to do our part and He’ll always do his part. Our part is to train and apply what we learn and his part is t give us victory.
James Greer: 03:55 We’ve got to understand what we’re here for. We’ve got to understand what we were created for. And in Genesis 1:27-28 says, what we’re created for and why we were created. For God created man in his own image. God created image and He created him male and female. So there’s princess warriors too, Amen? And there’s men, warriors, and He created them. And God blessed them and he said to them, be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth, subdue it. Have dominion over it, over the fish over the sea over the birds over the air, over every living thing that moves on the earth. Whole earth, God said listen, I want you to know, you are created by God, for God, in God’s image. So men and women both were created by God, for God, in God’s image spiritually the same. Physically there’s some differences. Amen? Amen?
James Greer: 04:57 1 Peter 3:7 says, husbands, likewise, dwell with them. Talking about your wives, with understanding, giving honor to your wife, as the weaker vessel. Now, it wouldn’t matter if he came up here and boxed, and he asked his wife, Catherine, to come up and fight with him. He’d probably win. Amen? But that’s okay. God says, listen, you still honor her. Understand her, come together. We’ve made her a weaker physical vessel, but it’s still to honor. When you come together, you’re joint heirs together of the grace of life. Does your prayers might not be hindered? Do you understand husbands and wives, one of the reasons you want to make things right with each other? That it doesn’t hinder your prayer life. Do you understand when you honor each other, that you have a quality of life that’s available to you that’s not available to anybody else? Do you understand one of the main reasons that you and your wife, when you’re in a disagreement, should try to come together? Because you don’t want your prayers hindered. That you might need to intercede for your family or for one of your kids. And God says that hinders your prayer life, when you all are at odds with each other.
James Greer: 06:20 But men, you are created in God’s image, you are created to be warriors. You are created to be winners to subdued, have dominion over the earth. Warriors and winners, but you know what you were created to fight for, Psalms 127:1-5 tells us, it says, unless the Lord builds a house, you labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city. The watchman show guard is in vain. We need to fight, of course for our families, God’s way because any other way is in vain. Vein means you’re deceived. It’s desolate, it’s useless. Then it goes on, it says it’s in vain to rise up early, to stay up late, to toll for your food. Talking about work. For a bunch of sheep and for those that you love. In other words, it says, we need to learn to fight for our families. We need to fight for our jobs, and we need to fight God’s way or it’s in vain. Men it says, we need to fight for our job to provide for our families. We need to fight for God’s way, or it’s all.
James Greer: 07:13 Then it says verse three, the sons are a heritage of the Lord. Children, of their womb, like arrows in the hands of warriors. Yes, and sons born to our youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them, they should not be put to shame, when he contends with their enemies at the gate. He says first of all, men we’re warriors, we’re champions, but there’s an enemy at the gate. Here’s some insights you’ve got to remember, we have to learn to fight for our own families, for our homes, for our kids, for our jobs. We have to fight God’s way because every other way is vanity and we’re going to learn what that is. We have to train to fight. We’ve got to understand there’s an enemy at the gate that wants to destroy your family, your job, and everything you have. You’ve got to understand that God’s already in you, with you, and for you. Now, why don’t you understand how to fight?
James Greer: 08:12 You’re only as strong as you’re willing to be honest with yourself. If you’re not careful, that’s one thing men don’t want to be. Men want to put up a guard, and they want to act like to have it all together, and we really don’t. We know what we want to fight for. We need to fight for our family, our kids, and our jobs. We need to fight for that, but we need to know how to fight for that. We have to be honest with ourselves and others. John 10:14 says, I am the Good Shepherd. In other words, he said, I’m your warrior, I’m your provider. I know my sheep. I know who I’m fighting for and I’m known by them, as the father knows me. Even so, I know the father, and I lay down my life for my sheep. Now this is where it starts to come in, it’s not so much what you’re willing to fight for, it’s what you’re willing to die for and die to.
James Greer: 09:09 The number one way to fight is learning to surrender. The greatest battle starts with surrendering your life to God’s plan for your life. We’ll say, hey, He’s our savior, but He’s got to be our provider and our director. This isn’t in your notes, but I want you to write down what it means to surrender. Are you Ready? To become preoccupied and completely dependent upon Christ, that reflects in your behavior. In other words, the first step to heaven, the first step to winning, the first step to winning the battle is learning to surrender your life to God’s plan. How do I surrender? I become preoccupied and completely dependent upon Christ. That reflects in my behavior, and that’s so important because later on we’re going to find out some things you surrender to and some things you surrender from, and on the table, whatever you’ve become preoccupied in, that becomes your God.
James Greer: 09:28 So some things we need to be surrendered to is, we surrender our life, we surrender our finances, we surrender our job and we surrender our finances.
James Greer: 10:22 See, when we became preoccupied and we’d come completely dependent upon God, when you go to work, it’s different. Now your job is surrender to God. When you go to work, you say, Hey God, how can I further your kingdom on this job? I’m no longer dependent upon my boss. I have a conversation with somebody this week and I said, man, I’m so worried I might get laid off and I’m dependent upon that job. And I said, listen, I don’t want you to get laid off, but I want to tell you something. As long as you’re dependable in that job or that person, you’re going to always have worries, though that might be a conduit, your greatest dependent needs to be on God. See, you learn to really surrender to God and completely dependent on him. You’ll never be where God wants you to be, and there’s so many people that have never done that, and it’s God’s plan for you. The first step to really fight like a man, really fight like a woman. It always starts with surrender. That’s what I want you to do today. The first time he could, something comes into your life. The greatest problem that comes in your life, the greatest battle that comes in your life. The greatest financial thing that comes into your life. The greatest marriage problem that comes into your life. Greatest financial problem that comes into your life. Surrender. Become preoccupied with God. Completely dependent upon God.
James Greer: 11:36 There’s some things you need to surrender from. You need to surrender from lust. Lust to becoming preoccupied with the wrong things. You need to surrender from the wrong use of your money. You need to surrender the wrong use of your job, your family, and your hobbies. So there’s some things you’ve got to learn to surrender to, and there’s some things you got to surrender from. And it’s 2 Corinthians 10:6 it says, I’ll use these weapons against every rebel who remains after I have used them for myself, and you surrender to Christ. Number one weapon is surrender to Christ. What is surrender? I become preoccupied and completely dependent upon Christ, second weapon, the scripture. See, I’m going to give you three weapons that you could have victory in your fight. Number one, surrender. Number two, our weapon is the scripture. Matthew 4:1-4 says this, it says, and Jesus as He was led by the spirit into the wilderness, He had been tempted by the devil. He just fasted 40 days.
James Greer: 12:41 He had fasted 40 days and 40 nights and after He was hungry. You know what I wrote in My Bible? I guess so, after fasting 40 days and 40 nights, I’d be hungry too. Amen? And so that’s what happens, the devil often tempts us. Are you ready? At our weakest time, in our weakest area. You ready? And he often uses food. In the very beginning, what did he tempt her with, an apple. I mean fruit, we don’t know an apple. And now when he tempted Cane, uh, he said to him, if you are really the son of God, command this stone to become bread. But Jesus answered him and said, it is written. Now he’s quoting God’s word. The first way you surrender to God. The second one is you quote God’s word . Man shall not live by bread alone. But every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God.
James Greer: 13:27 So you surrender and then you go to scripture and that’s what you do. That’s the second step, as your weapon, as your warfare. James does this, see he punches with temptation or he punches with worry. You counter punch with God’s word. James 4:7 says, therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he’ll flee. So how do you do that? He says, submit to God. You surrender to God, you use the scripture, and he has to flee. So, how do we fight as men? Really it doesn’t matter if you’re man, woman, boy, or girl, these three things all apply. Number one, you surrender. You come preoccupied, completely dependent on God. The very moment your either tempted or the very moment you have to face a crisis. Second of all, you find a promise to overcome your problem. In other words, if it’s fear, you say, God didn’t give me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
James Greer: 14:25 And if you don’t know enough scripture come to the front and we’ll give you a never again list to start with today and you take the never again list, and whatever the problem is, you quote it back against the problem you’re having and that’s where you fight back. The Bible says you resist the devil and he has to flee. Submission plus the word gives you victory for the moment. The only problem is he’ll come back again and you have to do it over and over again. And third, the training ground is the church. You need to be here. You need to be in the word, you need to be under the word. Hebrews 10:4 says, you say that and you should not stay away from the church. You shouldn’t stay away from where? The church, meetings as some of you are doing, but you should be meeting together to encourage one another and do this as more as you see the in the time coming.
James Greer: 15:15 I can tell you the end of time is coming. So it says, the more the closer it comes, you need to be at church. You need to be in church and you’d be under the church. That’s where you learn the word. You get in the word and you apply the truth. You come to church and then you leave to be the church. So the three steps, surrender, apply God’s word, come to church. Amen? And you can begin to have victory like never before. That’s what Romans says. Uh, fully. As many members in one body, not all members have the same old we being. Many are one body. We come together to where we’re stronger than we ever could. Learn to fight for something bigger than you are. Learn to fight something that’ll last after you’re gone. So in close, I want to go over it again.
James Greer: 15:58 You’re created for something great, greater than you. You were created to fight like a man, and really fight like a woman. The three steps will apply to give you victory, anybody here. He surrendered means to stop doing some things, they start doing some things. The main difference, this is so important, between lust and Christ is what you’re preoccupied with. Which you become preoccupied with would determine your behavior and becomes your God. The difference between a desire and lust is preoccupied. It’s okay to desire to get ahead. It’s okay to desire to have a better job. It’s okay to desire to have a bigger house. It’s okay to desire to have something, but he becomes so preoccupied that it changes your behavior, that’s lust. If you are laying down at night and that’s what you’re thinking about and you become preoccupied with that person and you’re preoccupied about that thing that’s wrong, there’s only one thing you become preoccupied about and that’s Christ.
James Greer: 17:10 Second of all, you take scripture is your weapon. You submit to God, you resist the devil with a weapon and it says he has to flee. Not that he might, he has to. If you don’t know the scripture we’ll give you, some startups we’ll give you a never again list today and you quote it. If you have to quote it out loud, then did they make a commitment to say, I’m going to be at church every opportunity I can. The Bible says that I shouldn’t stay away from church meetings. I should be here where I can be encouraged and I encourage one another and I don’t know where you’re at today. I don’t know what God would have you to do today, but I know one thing he will say, to take these three steps and start having victory like you’ve never had them before. Would you stand with me?
James Greer: 18:00 Father, I pray that we could all learn to fight like men and women of God. God, I understand surrender needs to be preoccupied with you. It means to be dependent on you. There’s some people that came in today that really need to depend on you. They came in here with worries and problems and pressure and they need to surrender to you as their savior, where they’re sure they’d go to heaven. They need to surrender to you for their provider. Maybe it’s surrender to you for their protector, maybe surrender to you for their guidance, their direction. God, there’s some that need to fight back. They need to find your word or your promises. God, we want to give them some things, some tools today. Some just need to make a commitment. Hey, I need to start being in church. I need to have that victory that God says He has. He said that he came that you could have life and have it more abundantly, and He just wants you to have that abundant life that He’s promised. Some of you need to come and join church, some may need to follow through in public baptism. Some may just need somebody to come and to pray with you and to pray for you. Whatever God’s called you to do, I pray you let him have his will and his ways. In Christ’s name I pray. Amen.
