Wisdom: Learning God’s Wisdom Before Life Teaches It the Hard Way

Learning Gods Wisdom the Hard Way at Journey Church in Pineville, LA

Life’s Greatest Blind Spot

Key Verse: Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing…”

If wisdom is the main thing, then getting God’s wisdom should be one of the main priorities of our life. These short lessons will help you do that.

You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know.

Have you ever looked back and thought,

“I wish someone had taught me that years ago.”

I know I have.

Before I understood God’s design for marriage...

I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

Before I learned how to handle money God’s way...

I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

Before I learned leadership...

I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

Before I learned to trust God through life’s storms...

I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

Most people aren’t trying to make bad decisions.

They simply haven’t discovered God’s wisdom yet.

That’s why God gave us His Word—not just to prepare us for heaven, but to teach us how to live wisely every day.

Today, ask God one simple question:

“Lord, what are You trying to teach me today?”

WORD

James 1:5 (NKJV)

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

WISDOM CHALLENGE

✓ Follow Jesus first. (Matthew 6:33)

✓ Choose your mentors—and who you learn from—wisely.

✓ Before taking someone’s advice, ask:

“Do I want what they have in the area they’re advising me?”

✓ If you don’t want their destination, don’t follow their directions.

ACTION

Before making an important decision this week, stop and pray:

“Lord, give me Your wisdom before I make this decision.”

Then ask yourself whether the advice you are receiving is leading you toward the kind of life God wants you to live.

Have a blessed day!
