Oct 14, 2018

The longer something exists the easier it is to shift from its original intent, meaning, or purpose.

God’s original intent for the church. (Genesis 1:26-28, NKJV)

  • The church is not a building it’s a people.
  • Couples were created by God for God and God’s purpose to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it.
  • The church is a gathering of people celebrating Jesus as the living Son of God, to love and serve God, resulting in a movement of God locally and throughout the earth.
  • When the church turns inward it stops being the church.

What happens to the church when it forgets its original intent and purpose? (Genesis 6:5-8, NKJV; Romans 5:13, NKJV; NLT2)

  • When we forget our original intent and purpose it leads to destruction.

The original intent and purpose for the church after the flood. (Genesis 8:1, NKJV; Genesis 9:1, NKJV)

What happened to the church after the flood when it forgets its original intent and purpose?

  • What was the intent of one language? (Genesis 11:1-9, NKJV)
  • Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. (Genesis 9:1, NKJV)
  • To bring other people to heaven with them.
  • The devil gets us to focus on ourselves and leads to confusion and destruction.
  • To focus on God’s purpose and plan for our lives leading to power, passion, praise, peace, priorities, and purpose.
  • Not using what God’s given you for the purpose God’s given to you it will lead to destruction.
  • Confusion comes from wrong priorities in life—Our focus is to be what God would have us do instead of what we want to or plan to do. (Genesis 11:6, NLT2; 1 Corinthians 14:32-33, NKJV)

God’s original intent and purpose for the New Testament Church. (Acts 1:8, NKJV; Acts 2:1-8, NKJV)

  • Why did God allow them each to understand in their own language again?
  • To be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.

What happens to the New Testament Church when it forgets its original intent and purpose? (Acts 8:1, NKJV)

  • We rebel against God’s original intent and purpose of the church.

Insights:

  • God’s original intent and purpose for Journey Church is to be witnesses to the end of the earth. (Acts 1:8, NKJV)
  • If we as Journey Church forget or rebel against God’s original intent or purpose for us –we will have confusion and be scattered instead of enjoying the power and blessings of God. (Acts 8:1, NKJV; Acts 5:1-5, NKJV)
  • God’s original intent and purpose for us and our family is to be fruitful and multiply. (Acts 1:8, NKJV)

Things to do so we don’t forget or rebel against God’s original intent and purpose for our lives, church, and families.

  • Commit to being the church where you are. (1 Corinthians 10:31, NKJV; Matthew 6:31-34, NKJV)
    • Stop worrying about the things the world does, because we know this world will not last.
  • Commit to asking God if He wants you to move and be a part of a movement of God in another area.
  • Commit to giving and serving here at Journey Church like never before.
    • Learn the joy of sacrificial giving and serving.
  • Speaking the same language will cause us to be able to accomplish the impossible—or have unbelievable confusion. (Genesis 1:26-28, NKJV; Genesis 9:1-5, NKJV)

Sermon Video Transcription

James Greer: 00:00 Good morning Journey Church. Let’s give Alexandria a hand. Amen. Man, I’m telling you, God is really rocking the house. I often tell Darrell, at Alexandria campus, he’s real jealous, I often tell him about my shoes, but not today. Today I want to tell him about there’s a card, and y’all have a card like this in front of your chairs, and it’s so important. It talks about the next step, and we’re going to be preaching on God’s purpose and intent for your life. As you know, the longer something exist, the easier it is to shift from the original purpose, and intent, that God has for it. Though Alexandria, it’s just been there about six months, and God is rocking the house over there. And I think they’ve already had 47 new members, and 22 baptisms, Amen? And we’re going to be celebrating that real soon.

James Greer: 00:54 I mean next Sunday we have halftime Sunday, and we’re going to all dress up, amen. Like sports people, and come and just have a great time. But what I want to do even in Alexandria. I want them to remember the longer something exists, the easier it is to shift from its original purpose, just like at Journey Church. So we got to remember what God’s original intent and purpose for our life, and the same thing for our marriage. See, I believe the greatest marriage problems today, is because they don’t know the original intent and purpose for their marriage, and it’s always been the same. Back in Genesis chapter 1, verses 27, 28, God said, “I created male and female. I blessed them, I said, be fruitful and multiply, and subdue the whole earth.” That that was it. That’s what he told them. He said, that’s my purpose, but we’ll learn when we don’t do God’s purpose there is confusion. We’ll find out when we don’t do God’s purpose, we’re scattered. We have this unbelievable pressure in our life.

James Greer: 01:57 This is the last Sunday of Holy Shift, and God has been so good. I’m going to give you the numbers one last time, but the reason I’m going to give you the numbers, is because it goes along with the message. See, since the Holy shifts started, we’ve have a total of 92 new members, Amen. Two hundred thirty visitors, and we baptized 40, that’s big. Why is that so important? Because the original intent and purpose for the church is to be fruitful. One hundred twenty one baptisms as fruitful, it is the multiply. To have 260 new members, and to have a new campus, that to multiply. And to help subdue the whole earth, as we do what God calls us to do, as we become fruitful, as we multiply, as we fill the whole earth, and as we subdue it. It becomes one purpose and one goal.

James Greer: 02:54 I want us again, I want you to know it’s very easy to shift from the original purpose and meaning of life, but when we learn God’s purpose for our life, for our marriage, for our church, and we apply that, we get to experience God’s power in the matter, to carry it out. The same is true in the church. The longer a church exists, the easier it is to turn inward instead of outward. The longer a marriage exists, I mean, at first man, when I used to call my wife at night, sometimes I’d sit on the phone and just breathe til 1:00 in the morning. You there? Yes. Are you there? Yes. Oh, I mean my whole goal, but I just wanted to see her, and love her, the longer exists you say, hey, how about me? You don’t take care of me. You know? And so we began to turn inward, and that’s what happens to marriages, and that’s what happens to church. We started saying, we ought to take care of me, take care of my family. You didn’t sit in my seat, you didn’t park in my parking spot, did you? Did everybody speak to me? Is it too loud? Is it too cold? I mean, it’s all about me. And what happens is if you’re not careful, what happens, is when we forget the original intent that God has for me and you, and for our marriage, and our families, and we turn inward and we become selfish.

James Greer: 04:17 So what was God’s original intent for the church? It’s in Genesis Chapter One, verse Twenty Six, and it says, “And God said, let us…” How can it be us? We’ve got Christmas right around the corner, amen, and we’re going to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. But you do understand Jesus has always been, and always will be, he was in heaven with God. He says, “Let us God the father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit, let us make man in our image according to our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish in the sea, and the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So guess what they did? Verse 27, “So God created man in his image, and in the image of God (He created what?) male and female.” He created them. Do y’all understand? If you read Genesis chapter one, and you [inaudible] 27th, he said, I created man and woman. At this point, they hadn’t even been in the Garden of Eden, he hadn’t even created them. What he was doing, is he says, I can see it before it happened. I’m telling you what the original purpose and intent, for God the father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit was for this couple, which is Adam and Eve.

James Greer: 05:24 Which is the first church. And God said, I’m going to bless them, and God said, be fruitful. That’s the fun part, be multiplied, fill the earth, subdue it, have dominion over the fish in sea, all the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth. See the church in the beginning, its purpose is the same as it is today. The church in the beginning was not a building, it was a people. The church today, it’s not just this building. You come to this building where you can learn, and learn how to be the church. See, in the beginning it was just a couple. The first church, there was only two people. Started out with one. It was just Adam, and he had a relationship with God. God said, for the first time it’s not good. So he brought him Eve, and they had a church, and it was rocking the house. God said, I created you, and I created the church, to be fruitful and be multiplied, and subdue the earth. They were created by God, for God, for God’s purpose. The church is still the same. It’s a gathering of people today, that we celebrate the risen savior, Jesus Christ.

James Greer: 06:37 That results in a movement of God throughout the whole Earth, where people were getting baptized. But when the church turns inward, you ready? It stops being the church. When you’re church turns inward, it becomes an organization, instead of an organism. So church is not dead, it’s not an organization, it’s an organism. It’s alive, it’s well, it’s active, Amen. And that’s what a church is. The Old Testament church, it was to love God, to serve him. What happens when the church forgets the original purpose? What happened to Adam and eve? They turned inward, didn’t they? They became selfish. They started saying, hey, what can we get, instead of what all God has given? And so it begins to multiply, and they grow. But multiplication physically, without spiritual application, does not grow the church. I mean, we’ve got all kinds of people that are multiplying people, multiplying like rabbits out there. That doesn’t mean they’re the church, Amen? That wasn’t the intent when he said be fruitful and multiply. Sometimes it’s physical children, sometimes it’s spiritual children. So they turn inward, and Adam and Eve became selfish. What happens to every marriage couple? Why did you start fighting? You think life is all about you. You think your marriage is all about you. You’re so focused on what you want, what your mate give you, instead of what you can give, and it becomes a problem.

James Greer: 08:08 It continued in Genesis chapter 6:5, you can pick it up, “And the Lord saw the wickedness of man was so great on earth, that that every intent.” Remember this, God knows your intent, and the faults. God knows your intention and thoughts. Everything’s all about the heart, and it was continually evil. What your intent, and what your purpose is, does matter. It is so great, if you ever learned this. So many times I’ll make so many decisions, and so many mess ups, and sometimes I really mess up. And I say, God, I know. I can’t believe I did that, and sometimes God blesses it anyway. And sometimes I’ll say, God, I mean man, you’re the great God. You’re the God that blesses mess ups. It was only because of the intent. God will look at your heart and say, oh, I know their intent. Their intent and purpose, was to do my purpose, and so therefore, sometimes God blesses it.

James Greer: 09:17 In Romans 5:13, it says, “Until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.” Let me read another translation, “Yes, people sinned even before the law was given, but you know it was not counted. It was not what? counted as sin because they had not yet any law to break. Now or do you understand? Sin is not really counted, imputed, put to your account, until you know it’s sin. Do you know, if you have a two year old baby, God doesn’t charge a sin to them. When David’s baby died, David said, I can’t bring my baby back, but one day I can go see my baby. That the sin was not imputed unto them, until they know it’s sin. That’s why moms and dads, it’s so important that you learn, when do my children really know what sin is. Because only then is an imputed unto them. Now it’s not a license to sin, but God doesn’t impute it, it’s not charged to us. That’s why God knows the intent of your heart. Sometimes you got a good heart, a good intent. And your intent was to get somebody to go to church, just to love them, and change their life, but it turned out wrong. But God looked at the intent.

James Greer: 10:32 Anyway. Genesis 6:6, “And the Lord, he was even sorry that he ever made man on the earth, and it grieved in his heart.” Yeah, we can grieve God’s heart. When I told you it was all about the heart. It’s about the intent, and the heart of a man, when he was doing the wrong thing. It’s intent about God, and God said, hey man, my heart is for you. God said, it grieves me when you don’t do what I’ve created you to do. You know also the Lord said, you know, I’ll just destroy him. Remember this, I don’t care if it’s a church, a home, a family, or a business, when you forget your original intent, destruction’s on the way, I’ll destroy man, whom I’ve created, from the face of the earth. Both man, and beast, and creeping things, the bird of the air, for I am sorry that ever made man. I cannot believe that, but that’s what he says. But thank God for the “buts”. Amen. But Noah, he found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

James Greer: 11:35 Today, God doesn’t so much destroy us physically, but spiritually. I mean, every time you see a rainbow, I want you to say thank God you don’t have the flood again, thank God he doesn’t destroy it. It’s a reminder of how God’s intent was, and his purpose, and it became a wickedly evil, and how he sent the flood. And so today, many times what we do, we get wicked. And God said, I’m not going to necessarily destroy you physically, though sin can lead to death, but spiritually. And when the church, and a family, forgets God’s original intent and purpose, it leads to destruction, and it grieves God. When a marriage, and a family, forgets the intent and purpose, it leads to destruction. You can start out and have a great marriage. You can to have a great business, and you’re going together. Man, we’re just going together, and we’re doing this for this purpose, and all of a sudden sometimes success causes us to a turn from God.

James Greer: 12:32 See, I think is not only forgetting the original intent and purpose of God, I believe it is when we rebel against it, it brings destruction. Honestly, I believe the number one marriage problems in the world, is married couples do not know God’s original intent and purpose for their life. Destruction means to be ruined, it means to be destroyed, but also you ready? It means to be pulled down, and pulled apart. I’ve never in my life seen so many married families being pulled apart, going in so many different directions, and having so many problems. They don’t know God’s original intent, they think it’s God’s original intent for them to do everything the kids want, or to do everything the parents want, or [inaudible]. And those can be part of it, but the overall purpose and intent is to blessed, fruitful, multiply and subdue the earth.

James Greer: 13:27 Well, what was God’s intent after the flood? I’m glad you asked that. You found out God’s intent for Adam and Eve, right? He blessed them and said, be fruitful, be multiplied, and subdue the earth. They became inward, and they became a destructive. And the further they got away from it, the more wicked they got. And God said, I grieved them, so he sent the flood. Actually, I’m in Genesis 8:1, but God remembered Noah, thank goodness. And every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark, and he made the wind to pass over the earth and the water subdued. We’re going to get another chance. Amen. So they’re going to get ready, they are fixing to go from the ark to the earth. Genesis 9:1, listen, God, what did he do? What did God do? He blessed. What did he do? He blessed Noah, his sons, and said to them, do what? Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. My goodness, that’s what he started way back in Genesis chapter one, verse 27, he said, the purpose is I want to bless you. God said, I have a special life for you, I want you to be exceedingly abundant above the Christian life. I want them to be able to look at your life, and say, there’s something different. I want them to know, even when you got problems, you got my presence. He said, I want to bless you. I want you to be fruitful. I want you to multiply. I want you to to fill the whole earth. That’s the same thing he told them to do, and the same thing he told us.

James Greer: 15:00 He didn’t say, I want you to stop and build a building, to build a church, and build a great church. He said, listen, I want you to have a church where you can teach the people how to be church. Amen Brother James! So there’s this group of people, started out with a couple, now it’s a few couples, created by God, for God, and for God’s purpose. The purpose it to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. How you do this greatly determines if you’re doing God’s purpose for your life. How you do, what? How you enjoy God’s blessings, how you become fruitful, how you multiply, how you fill the earth, and how you subdue it. When the church turns inward, when a couple turns inward, when individuals turn inward, they become selfish and sinful.

James Greer: 15:49 So what happened to the church after the flood? What happened when they forgot the original intent? Well, first thing that happened, first you know. In Genesis 11:1, “Then the whole earth had one language, one speech, didn’t matter where he went.” I’ve traveled all the world, I think God, I can’t speak anything. I can’t even hardly speak English. And I sure can’t spell it, that’s the craziest thing in the world. I mean, what did you do when you traveled, and you didn’t have a phone translator? I mean, you know, but at that time didn’t matter where you went, because they had one intent and one purpose. They got off the Ark, they got on the earth, and God said, listen man, I want you to be able to talk, I want you to be blessed, I want you to be fruitful and to multiply, I want you to subdue the whole earth. Man, I just want it to be yours. God wants to bless you.

James Greer: 16:42 Verse 2, but you know what? And it came to pass, as they journeyed. Hey, that’s what life is, i’s a journey, Amen. Why do we name our church Journey Church? Because life is a journey. And they journeyed from the east, and they found the plains, and the land, and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, come let us make bricks, and bake them thoroughly. Let us? And they had bricks, and they had stones, and they had asphalt, and they had mortar. Okay, now here we go. But they said to one another, let us build ourselves. Do what? Build ourselves of what? A city. Now God already said, listen, I told you it’s not about the building. Hey married people, it’s not about your house. It’s okay to have a house, it’s okay to have big house. It’s what you do in the house. And he said, let’s go, let’s build ourselves. Let’s build a city. Let’s build a tower. Those at top, it’s all the way to heaven. Man, everybody that looks at us, man, they’re going to say, look at our tower. And let us make a name for our self.

James Greer: 17:54 So now they’ve gone from doing God’s plan, and God’s purpose, to enjoying the blessing. But they turned the blessing into a curse, because it was all about what? Ourselves. That’s what happens when you forget God’s purpose and plan for your life, it becomes all about you. It said, and listen, and let us be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth. It says lest we be scattered. It didn’t say, let’s be scattered, it said, let’s don’t be scattered. That sounds good, but he said, life is not all about you. It wasn’t all about them, but they said, hey, we are here, we’re in a great place, we can come together, we got one language, let’s don’t be scattered anymore. Let’s don’t spread the word anymore. Let’s don’t be fruitful, let’s don’t multiply anymore. That’s not what God told them to do. That’s not what God told me to do. That’s not what God told you to do. It’s not all about where you work, it’s not all about your tower, it’s not all about your job, it’s not all about our church. What it is about, is spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. God wanted them not to build a tower to heaven, he wanted to bring in people to heaven. See, the devil gets us the focus on ourselves, and when we focus on ourselves, it leads to confusion and destruction. The pulling apart. God wants us to focus on his purpose, and his plan. Which leads to the power, and the passion, and the praying, and the peace, and the right priorities.

James Greer: 19:18 But the Lord came down to see the city, and the tower which the sons of man had built. Can I tell you something? God knows what we’re doing. He knows what we’re doing at Journey Church, he knows what you’re doing at your house, and he knows what our plans are. He said, I came down to see the son. Verse 6, then it says what? And the Lord said, indeed, these people are one, and they all have one language, and this is what they began to do with it. Do you understand that God said, man, they have all one language and now look and see what they’re doing? God blessed them, now look and see what they’re doing with it. Now, nothing that they proposed to do is withheld from them. God said, listen, when you get one language, when you got one purpose, man, you can do the impossible. Lord said, indeed these people, they’re of one, you know. And indeed they’re one, and they have one language, and this is what they begin to do. Now, nothing that they proposed to do will be withheld from them. Do you see what he’s saying? He said, man, I blessed them, I want them to be multiplied, I gave them one language, one speech. You see what they’re doing with it?

James Greer: 20:38 God saying, hey family, I blessed you Journey Church, I blessed you. What are you doing with what I gave you? Where you going with it? How are you using it? Verse 6, and Lord said, the people are united. Let me tell you that is so important. When the church is united correctly, nothing becomes impossible, Amen. Yeah, that’s good. But when the church is not united, or it’s united for the wrong thing, it’ll always bring destruction. But see the people were united, and they said, we all speak the same language. That’s something we try to do at our church, and our staff, we try to all speak the same language. What is your purpose, to bring those people far from God, close to God. And you ask about anything, and everybody tries to speak the same language, because that’s what we’re doing. But he said, listen, after this, nothing they set out to do would be impossible for them. I love that, in the good context. Man y’all, do you understand Journey Church, if we become united for the purpose of God, and we’re all going in one direction, and we’re trying to be blessed, and be fruitful, and multiplied, and subdue the whole earth, man, nothing’s too hard for us. Amen? Don’t you want to be a part of something bigger than you? Don’t want to be something that’s so big, that it would be impossible apart from God. Amen?

James Greer: 21:57 But they didn’t do that. So verse 7 says, “Let us come down, and confuse their language.” Where does confusion come from? Wrong purpose, wrong priorities. Where does confusion come from in your home, with your children, on your job. Uh oh, the wrong purpose, the wrong priorities. They’re not going to understand each other’s speech anymore. Have you ever lived in the same house with somebody, and you just said, man, I just cannot understand what they’re saying. They’re even speaking the same language, and you can’t understand them. I can’t understand what they’re saying, what they’re trying to do. You know, you might’ve had accumulated more, but you being pulled apart more, and it’s got you focused on the wrong thing, and the wrong priorities, and the wrong purpose. Confusion comes when we focus on what we want to do, where we want to go, instead of what God wants us to do.

James Greer: 22:52 Verse 8, “And so the Lord, (He did what? What did the Lord do?) the Lord scattered them abroad, from all over the face of (What?) all the earth.” What did they tell him to do? To go all over the earth. Are they going to go all over the earth? Yes or no? Yes. They’re just not going to go the way that could’ve of. They could have gone with the power, they could have gone the blessing of God. And he said, no, no, I’m going to bring confusion. They don’t even understand each other. They are going to have discord. They’re going to be scattered, but they are going to be all over the earth, and they’re going to cease to build the city. I mean, God’s going to tell you what he’s going to do. He’s going to tell you how to do it.

James Greer: 23:28 Verse 9, “Therefore, this name is going to be call Babel.” Remember that. What happened there? “It was there the Lord confused their language, of all the earth, and from there the Lord scattered them abroad all over the face of the earth.” Okay, so far we started way back when Adam and Eve, right? They forgot God’s purpose. And it grew into Noah, and Noah aged, and it got worse and worse. Then he blessed them, now it’s getting worse and worse. Now they come here, they build this big tower, and God says, guess what? I’m going to scatter them. When we forget and rebel against God’s purpose, we will be scattered, pulled apart. We will be confused, can’t understand each other. We can’t understand what’s going on.

James Greer: 24:12 That’s what first Corinthians talks about. First Corinthians 14:32-34, “And the spirit of the prophet is subject to the Prophet.” In other words, we’ve got to have some kind of order, but for God, he’s not the author of confusion, instability, and disorder, but of peace. In all the churches of the saint. Who is the church? The Christians, the believers, your home. All those would come to church, and learn to be in the church. But you have church in your house when you’re talking about God. He said, I’m not the author of confusion, of instability, I’m not the god of disorder, but of peace. You Ready? Important. When you get God’s plan, and God’s order, out of order, you’ll always have disorder. No matter where you’re at. All’s you do, is you get God’s plan out of order, and you’ll have disorder, and you’ll have confusion, and you’ll have instability. So God does this all through the Old Testament.

James Greer: 25:05 Now he’s going to rock. Here we are in the New Testament. I mean our whole Holy Shift started in the Books of Acts, Amen. So what’s the purpose? Acts 1:8, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and don’t go all over the earth.” You’re to receive the power of the Holy Spirit when it comes upon you. You shall be my witnesses. No, not just my witnesses to me, that I’m the death, the burial and resurrection. I’m the only way to go to heaven. You do it in Jerusalem, wherever you live, wherever you work, wherever you go to church. You do it in Samaria, you do it in Judea, and you do it Samaria, because it’s all over the earth.

James Greer: 25:47 So how can we do that? Because we speak different languages? Amen. Here it is. We come there, the tower of Babel caused them confusion, right? We’re in the New Testament. He says, I want you to go all over the earth, and what God says is going to happen, will happen, Amen. Acts Chapter 2, new church is born. When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, and they were of one accord, they were one place. Man, God liked this one accord, he likes is this one place. Verse 2, And suddenly there came a sound from heaven. It definitely had to come from heaven. As of a rushing wind filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared, to some, like divided tongues as fires, and it sat upon each of them. What for? And they were
all filled with the Holy Spirit, and begin to speak in other languages, as the spirit gave them utterance. What did he give them? Utterance. How come now? At the Tower of Babel, they couldn’t understand each other, could they? Now all of a sudden, listen, not only could they speak, they get hear, and they dwell in Jerusalem, devote men. Where are the devout men? From every nation under heaven?

James Greer: 26:59 Let me ask you something. Stop right there for a minute. What did God tell us to do way back in Genesis chapter one? I want to bless you to be fruitful, and multiply, and subdue the whole earth. Didn’t do it, did we? What did he say to Noah when he came from the ark to Earth? I want to bless you, I want you to be fruitful, multiply, subdue the whole earth. Came to the Tower of Babel they tried to turn inward, he scattered them again. Now they couldn’t understand each other. So how’s he going to get them everywhere? So he comes to Acts. He says, listen, The commandment is saying, be fruitful, multiply, subdue the whole earth. That’s what you do when you become a witness for Jesus Christ. You bring other people into the fold, other people come new to Jesus Christ our savior. that they become part of your fruit.

James Greer: 27:45 But now look, and the sound occurred, and the multitude came together, they were confused. But God now clears the confusion, because of the right purpose, because everyone did what? Heard. What did everybody do? Heard. What did they here? They heard them speaking their own language. Can you believe it? Now he’d scattered them, they couldn’t speak, they couldn’t hear. Now he said, I’ll bring you back together. I’m going to give you the birth. Y’all we are in the New Testament time to fulfill this very prophecy. And when they were all amazed, they marveled saying one to another, look man, look at all these Greek speaking. And how is it that they do what? Hear? Each in his own language, in which we were born. Why did that happen? Because he said, listen, I told you what I planned, I gave you a purpose. We’re all here, we’re from all over the world. And now listen, before they couldn’t understand, now they’re going to understand. And then I’m going to scatter them all back over, and the same purpose, and the same plan. It’s the fulfillment of the what they did in Babylon, and it’s coming about in the Book of Acts. He said they couldn’t do it now, so I’ve scattered them because they did the wrong thing. Now I’m a going to scatter them because they do the right thing. They heard.

James Greer: 28:55 I got a rock, I’m about out of time, this is too bad. I knew that was going to happen. I don’t know what I’ll do here. I got to get to the main thing. How about I just tell you what happened. Told them in Acts one, you know, and that was it. And you know, and they begin to do that. Do what God called them to do, and that’s what God wants us to do. God called Journey Church, and he called you. You shall be my witnesses, both in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem. Judea, Samaria, the outermost parts of the world. In a small way, we’ve taken our first step when we went to Alexandria, that a start. Amen. Big start. We’re going to celebrate that next Sunday. Everybody come, and wear a sports uniform or jersey or something. Amen, let’s come, let’s have fun, let’s enjoy the blessings of God. What’s going to happen if we don’t keep going? What would happen if I said, let’s just grow Journey Church right here. Let’s just stay in Pineville, and stay a little bit a part of Alexandria. Let’s enjoy each other, let’s build a bigger church, a better church. Let’s build it wherever body comes and says that’s Journey Church. You can do that, for a while.

James Greer: 30:07 Then Acts 8:1 will come along. Acts 8:1 said, They sent somebody named Saul who later wrote 3/4th’s of the New Testament. But he came a great persecution against the church. Do you know that God said, that I told you what we’re going to do, and I’m going to do it with you or without you. So in Acts chapter eight, verse one, he said…in 1:8 he told where to go. And 8:1, he said, that persecution came, and I’m going to scatter the church. Guess what the church is going to go? To Judea, Samaria, and the outermost parts of the world, just where he told him it’s going to go.

James Greer: 30:47 So you can enjoy the power of the blessing of God, or you can have the confusion and be scattered. So what are you going to do in your marriage? What are you going do in your family, that God called you to do? He said, be fruitful, multiply and fulfill the earth. The question to you is, what can I do as a person? What can I do as a family? What can I do as a church? To be a part of being fruitful, multiplying, fulfill the church. Some of you, we need you to do it right here at church. Some of you, you need to be at the other church. Some of you, we need to be sending you the other places. But you got to just start asking yourself, if I get God’s plan out of order, I’m going to have disorder in my home. God’s not the author of confusion, of instability, and disorder, but if I don’t do what he’s called me to do, I’ll do it.

James Greer: 31:26 So how many will need to come today, and say, God, I got your plan out of order. God I got your plan out of order, and there’s about to be disorder. I can feel it being pulled apart. I want to commit my life to you. You can do it in several ways. You can commit your life to being the church. You can come to church, learn to be the church on your work, your job in your hobby, just whatever you do. You’ve got an opportunity. Starting next few weeks, we’re going to celebrate, we’re hoping to open up a mission in Haiti. We’ve already pinpointed a orphanage. We’ve made arrangements with this orphanage to go a Christian school. We’re hiring a part time home pastor to go there. Yeah, we want to be the church. Amen. We don’t want to be just here, we don’t want to be just an Alexandria, we want to be in Haiti. And you can be a part of a Haiti mission starting this next few months. Amen. We’re sending shoe boxes all over the world. You can be a part of it. Y’all ready? Some of you have a job, or a trade, that you can move anywhere in the world and make a living. Hey for you people, whoever you are, you start praying and say, God is that for me. Journey Church will train you, and we’re going to look for six to twelve couples, and we’ll send them somewhere else. And they’ll begin having church at home, so we can build a church there. We’re going to be the church. You can be a part of the church by coming and supporting that, or you might be a part church to be sending, and going there.

James Greer: 33:06 But you’re going to enjoy the church like never before. Because you understand that first, you got to be saved. If you here today, and you’ve never given your heart to Jesus Christ, today is a day to give your heart. And when you’re saved, you really want to serve. When you really serve, you learned a sacrifice and surrender. When you serve, and you’re saved, and you sacrifice, and you surrender, you ready? You’re satisfied like never before. I want to be a part of being fruitful, and multiplying, and subduing the whole earth. Hey, some y’all, God’s going to call you to do something different. After I give them a taste, and you’re going to go back, and you’re going to fill this out, and you’re going to put it at the next step.

James Greer: 33:55 But the invitation right now is this, I’m going to ask you to stand, and I’m going to pray with you, and I’m going to pray for you. Stand. God, it’s so easy to lose focus on what you’ve called us to do, in our homes, in our church, and in our family. Help us to refocus this morning. Help us to recommit. Help us will say, God, I know I’ve gotten of focus, I’ve gotten off your purpose, I’ve gotten off your plan, and one of the reasons I’m being pulled apart. But God, today, I’d like for you to forgive me. I’d like to have your blessings, God. I’d like the blessings on our church, I’d liked the blessings on our family, I want your blessings on our business. And that day the people are going to come, and they going to recommit their life to Jesus Christ. Not only as their savior God, but they’re going to serve, they’re going to be the church wherever they go, and
wherever they are sent. And God will give you the honor, and the glory, and the praise. Because God, it’s in your name we ask, amen and amen.
