“From a Defeated Grasshopper—To a Giant Slayer”

Numbers 13:33, NKJV

  • What is the Grasshopper Myth or Syndrome?

    • First Grasshopper Myth is when any Christian falsely believes, their problem is too Big for you and God.
      • Christians have a Hope, Assurance, and Power that non-Christians don’t have. (Matthew 12:21, NLT)
      • Resulting in us living in fear instead of faith.
      • Grasshopper Myth causes us to look at the problem instead of God’s Promise. (Genesis 18:14, NKJV)
      • With God, nothing is impossible for God. (Luke 1:37, NKJV)
      • What you speak and the faith you have will determine the results you get. (Matthew 17:20, NKJV)
    • Second Grasshopper Myth is believing small people, weak people, wrong people can’t do great things. (1 Corinthians 1:26-28, NKJV; Zechariah 4:10, NLT)
  • Why did they have the Grasshopper Syndrome or why did they believe the Grasshopper Myth?

    • They saw themselves as they were in the past instead of who they were in the present.
      • They saw themselves as a slave, sinners, and in bondage—God saw them as a son; a saint, and as being freed!
      • They were allowing Satan’s lies to define them instead of allowing God’s Promises to prove who they were.
      • We have to repeat to delete—we have to repeat the right things more times where it will begin to delete the wrong things.
    • Because we lessen God’s Word. (Numbers 13:27-28, NKJV)
      • The more we lessen God’s Word—the more we lessen His Power and Purpose for our life.
  • How can we become Grasshoppers that Slay Giants?

    • Many times, we have to go against the crowd—being the exception can lead to being the exceptional one. (Numbers 13:30-33, NKJV; Numbers 14:6-10,NKJV)
    • You have to have Biblical Hope.
      • Hope is the confident expectation of a positive future in spite of your present circumstances. (Ephesians 1:18-22, NKJV; Acts 2:26, NKJV; Romans 15:13, NKJV)
