What God’s Word Says and Doesn’t Say about Tattoos & Body Piercing

Verses we all know: 1 Corinthians 10:31-33, NKJV; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NKJV; 1 Corinthians 6:12, NKJV; Colossians 3:20-21, NKJV

If you are under age you need your parent’s approval. Will I still want this image when I get older? What would my future mate think? Will it bring honor to God?

Verses we might not know: Isaiah 49:14-16, TLB

Why would God tattoo my name on His hand? God sees us every day in the palm of His hand.

Verses to think about: Revelation 14:1, NKJV; Revelation 19:16, NKJV; Revelation 22:4, NKJV

Verse you might not understand: Leviticus 19:26-28, NKJV

We are no longer under the law. If we were to obey the laws of the OT we would also be bound by rules that would restrict us from foods, hairstyles, clothing made from different fabrics.

What about body piercing? Colossians 3:20-21, NKJV; Exodus 21:5-6, NKJV; Psalm 40:6, NIV; Ezekiel 16:11-13, NIV; Proverbs 11:22, NIV; Genesis 24:47-49, NIV; John 19:34-37, NKJV

What We believe: The Essentials and Non-Essentials

Three statements summarize everything we believe: Essential beliefs we have unityNon-essential beliefs we show All our beliefs we show charity. (Love). Essential beliefs – We have Psalm 133:1Example of essentials: The Bible is God’s Word. The Church is Christ’s family. Jesus Christ is the only Son of God—virgin birth. Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it.

Non-Essential Beliefs Non-essential beliefs are convictions that individuals may have that are not essential to getting into heaven—thus, we show liberty. Romans 14:1; Romans 14:12 Examples of non-essential beliefs: Whether smoking, drinking, what you eat, etc. is going to keep you out of heaven. What style of music, dancing, or where you work. What religion you are—it’s not a religion that gets us to heaven, it’s a relationship with Jesus Christ. Romans 14:17, NKJV
