From Financial Stress to Spiritual Rest
Money can cause great financial stress.
The root of stress; God says money should not control our responses and reactions. We often allow our financial condition to control our emotions and actions.
God’s promises over emotions; we are called to live by God’s promises, not by our perception. (James 1:9, NIV) Humility in financial stress; a humble financial condition teaches us to depend on the Lord more than man. (1 Samuel 2:7, NIV; James 1:17, NIV)
We can be rich despite our financial condition.
True riches come from God. (Proverbs 10:22, NIV) Blessings for the poor in spirit; true blessings come when we recognize our need for God. (Matthew 5:3, NIV, AMP) Riches without fulfillment. (Proverbs 13:7, NIV, NKJV) True riches include God’s protection, favor, peace, and purpose. (Numbers 6:24-26, NIV)
How to find relief from financial stress:
-
- Contentment through Godliness. (1 Timothy 6:6, NIV)
- Identify the root problem. (Hebrews 13:5, NIV)
- Learn contentment; contentment is a learned behavior. It comes through trusting Christ for strength. (Philippians 4:11-13, NKJV)
- Reframe your thinking; it’s not what we have but who we have in Christ that brings joy and peace. (Ecclesiastes 5:19, NIV; Ecclesiastes 3:13, NKJV)
