Raising an Army: The Army’s Mission and Ministry

Minister as you go and where you go. (Luke 19:1-10,NKJV)

Zacchaeus was known as one of the worst people to ever consider being around. He was considered a cheat, power-hungry, money-hungry, and the most uncaring person you could ever imagine. One would never believe that someone like Zacchaeus, who was the sorriest of sinners, mistreated others, and cheated others could still come to Jesus, be forgiven, and set free.

We are to be looking for the Zacchaeus who really need Jesus. Jesus is the only thing that can fill the hole in their heart. (Ecclesiastes 3:11,NKJV)

Serve with joy. (Luke 19:6, NKJV)

The longer you are a Christian, the easier it is to forget where you came from and how Jesus forgave you.

Be generous. (Luke 19:8, NKJV)

The true response to radical grace is radical generosity. If you have been forgiven, you have been radically forgiven. Be radically generous.

Salvation has come to our house (life). (Luke 19:9,NKJV; 1 John 5:10-13,NKJV)

We are saved by grace, and if we are saved we will serve, give, and seek to see others saved. It is said that you can give without love, but you cannot love without giving.

Seek, serve, and save those who are lost. (Luke 19:10,NKJV)

We need to know our mission and allow it to lead to a day to day lifestyle of ministering.

Assignments for the week:

  • Look for those in need wherever you go.
  • Do your work with joy.
  • Radically give above your tithe.
  • Radically give to your mate.

How do we know if we are in the army and walking with Jesus everywhere we go? (Matthew 11:28-30,NKJV, MSG)

If you are simply working every day and not taking time to play and pray you will not find physical rest. If you are trying to live life day to day without inviting Jesus into your life, you will not have emotional rest. Jesus wants us to walk, work, and watch how He does it. Learn His rhythms of grace.

When Jesus grew tired and worn, He would get alone with His Father. Jesus was calm knowing His Father was always in charge. Jesus believed God would always turn things out for the good, even if it meant Him going to the cross.

Focus on the rhythm that leads to an intimate relationship, not religion that leads to a lot of rules of do’s and don’ts. Once you are in a rhythm of grace you will begin to minister everywhere you go as an outpouring of your intimate relationship with Jesus.
