Family Matters | What a Family is For
The family is a place to weather the storms together. (Genesis 2:18, NKJV; Genesis 2:24, NKJV; Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, NKJV; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, NLT2)
When a couple helps each other the right way, they will be more successful. God created the family to have unity, be fruitful in all they do, and subdue and have dominion. (Genesis 1:27-28, NKJV)
The Plan: (Ecclesiastes 4:10-12, NLT)
Two become one in unity. (Matthew 19:5, NKJV) Support each other when you fall or go through hard times. Keep each other warm by lying close. (1 Corinthians 7:3, 5, CEV) Stand back to back so you can withstand the enemy. (Ephesians 6:12, NKJV) Always rely on the third cord, Jesus Christ, in your marriage. (Matthew 6:33-34, NKJV; Romans 12:15, NKJV)
The family is to be a place of refuge from the storms. (Proverbs 14:26, NKJV)
The home does not need to be the storm; it needs to be refuge from the storm. Our children need a refuge where they can bring their problems and find the power and protection. (Psalm 139:14, NKJV, NCV, MSG) Couples need to come home to a place of refuge, not a storm. The hardest place to live out our Christian life is at home. (Romans 12:14-21, AMP)
To have harmony in in the house, there has to be humility in the house. (Romans 12:16, AMP) To have humility in the house, there has to be humble tasks in the house. (Philippians 2:3, NCV) Don’t repay evil for evil. (Romans 12:17, AMP) Do all you can to have peace with everyone in the house. (Romans 12:18, AMP) Forgive them. (Romans 12:19, AMP)
