Bringing Honor Back_ Pt. 4

“Learning to Honor the Position When We Can’t Honor the Person”

 1 Samuel 24:2-21, TLB

  1. Learning to honor the position when we can’t honor the person.

    1. Saul and David: (1 Samuel 24:2-21, TLB)
      • We are to honor those over us and when God gets ready to remove them He will.
      • When we are not honoring those over us, our conscience should bother us—a little gossip is a serious sin.
      • God is over the kings and presidents—unless they ask us to do something against God’s Word we are to honor them. (Proverbs 21:1, KJV; 1 Samuel 2:6-7, NLT; Deut. 8:18-19, TLB)
      • Honor and respect is a decision you make—not what someone deserves.
      • We don’t have to agree with the person to show honor because all honor is from God—we honor the position even when we can’t honor the person.
      • When we are living a life that dishonors God our life is in disorder and we listen to those we should not be listening to.
      • If others try to hurt us –we can try to hurt them back or we can allow God to handle it. (Romans 12:17-21, NKJV)
      • When we honor the position as a way of honoring God—God then honors us!
    2. Daniel: (Daniel 6:5-26, NKJV)
      • When a person is dishonoring God—it’s easier to get others to dishonor God.
      • If the Law of the Land goes against the Law of God we are to obey the Law of God—and not be ashamed of Him! (Psalm 25:2, NKJV; Psalm 25:20, NKJV; Romans 10:9-11, NKJV; Romans 1:16, NKJV)
      • When we are right with God—God fights our battles.
      • Whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame. (Romans 10:9-11, NKJV)
      • When you dishonor God you listen to the wrong people—you do the wrong things and –you get the wrong results.
      • Who we listen to will affect how we behave—and how wer behave will affect our family!
