Kingdom Principle of Sowing and Reaping


I.  What we sow we will reap! (Galatians 6:7-10, NKJV)

a. The Christian life is really all about sowing and reaping.

b. The problem in marriage and the Christian life is we want to reap what we have not sown.

c. Sow the seed + wait the time = Harvest—This applies to every area of our life.


II.  If we want a better marriage we have to stop sowing judgment.

a. Stop sowing judgment is one of the steps to helping make marriage great again. (Luke 6:37-42, NKJV)

b. Stop condemning them and start forgiving them. (Romans 8:1, NKJV)

c. We are to live free of condemnation as Christians and in our marriage life.

d. The best way to keep your marriage out of the ditch—keep your eyes on Jesus not your mates faults!

e. Begin sowing into your mate what you wanting and expecting God to give you back.

f. You want to grow your marriage—grow yourself.


III. If we want a better marriage we have to stop judging our mates and start judging ourselves. (Luke 6:41, NKJV)

a. Keep looking at the speck in your mates eye you will miss the plank in your own eye—when you have a plank in your eye your marriage is headed for the ditch.

b. Self Examination is the best Explanation of what the real problem is!

c. Wrong distractions cause self-destruction.

IV. Closing Summary of “How to make your Marriage Great Again!”

a. Ask God to help judge your own heart –to do that you have to have the Holy Spirit living in you! (Jeremiah 17:9-10, NKJV)

b. Don’t sow what you reap, but learn to sow what you want!

c. Accept the fact that your mate has weakness’, but so do you. (Romans 3:23, NKJV)

d. Focus on the good qualities in your mate and make a list! (Philippians 4:8, NKJV; 1 Thessalonians 5:18, NKJV)

e. Admit when you are wrong and apologize. (1 Peter 3:7, NKJV; 1 Peter 5:5-7, NKJV)

f. Never—never criticize your mate in public! (Matthew 18:15, NKJV)

g. Plan your budget together and stick to it; Put God first and get out of debt. (Matthew 6:33, NKJV; Malachi 3:8-11, NKJV)

h. Expect God to improve your mate. (Psalm 138:8 (Webster’s Bible; Psalm 27:13 (Webster’s Bible)

i. Don’t go to bed with unresolved conflict. (Ephesians 4:26-27 (Webster’s Bible)

j. Be united in the disciplining of children—Make rules together—Punish them together—agree together! (Matthew 12:24-25, NKJV)
